Turn Snack Time Into Mindfulness

Writer's picture: JoJo

The Blueberry Exercise is based on the Raisin Meditation, originally devolved by Jon Kabat-Zinn at the University of Massachusetts Medical School between 2000 and 2006.

Mindful Eating Habits

When you eat mindfully and pay attention to the food, you slow down and avoid distractions to help shift your awareness to your food and how your body reacts to it.

Mindfulness eating can help you connect with your body and become attuned to what you're craving. You can start to understand what your body needs. For example, are you low in salt, Vitamin C, or iron? Your body will tell you these things through your cravings and when you start to pay attention to how your body feels. When you eat a particular food, you'll notice these signals more.

And more, you'll start to notice patterns that are triggered by certain foods. What do you feel when you skip breakfast or eat too much after dinner. Do you feel cranky, sleepy, faint? When you train your mind to notice how you respond to food, you will better understand how food impacts your daily life.
